About

What is Cardle?

Cardle is a free daily car guessing game for car enthusiasts. Every day at midnight UTC, a new mystery car is picked, and every player around the world tries to find the same one. The idea comes from Wordle: one puzzle per day, a limited set of clues, and a result you can share with your friends without spoiling the answer.

The game is built and maintained by a single independent developer who loves cars. The car database is filled by hand: each model is checked for its fuel types, body styles, drivetrain, engine layout, brand nationality, release year and production numbers. More than 300 cars are in the game today, from 1950s classics to modern hypercars, and new ones are added regularly (you can follow them in the patch notes).

Three ways to play

Classic mode is the original game. You type the name of any car and Cardle compares it with the car of the day, property by property: fuel, car type, drive wheel, engine configuration, brand and year. Green tiles are exact matches, orange tiles are partial matches, red tiles are wrong, and arrows tell you if the mystery car is older or newer. After a few guesses, extra clues unlock: the flag of the manufacturer, the number of units produced and a photo of the interior.

Image mode shows a photo of the car of the day, heavily zoomed on a random detail. Every wrong guess zooms out a little more. In Expert Mode the picture also starts pixelated and gets sharper with each try. You have up to 15 guesses to recognize the car from a headlight, a badge or a wheel.

Emoji mode is the quick one: guess the car brand of the day from a few emojis. Each wrong answer reveals one more emoji, and you have unlimited tries.

Tips to find the car faster

In Classic mode, start with a car that covers a lot of ground: a popular model sold with several fuels and body styles gives you more orange tiles, and orange tiles narrow things down quickly. Use the year arrows like a binary search: if the answer is newer than 1990 and older than 2010, your next guess should sit in the middle.

The brand tile is the most valuable one. Once it turns green, think about the brand line-up and use the engine configuration and drive wheel to separate a sedan from a sports car. In Image mode, look for details that only one brand uses: grille shapes, light signatures and wheel designs are often enough.

Streaks, stats and sharing

Your daily results are saved on your device, so you can build a win streak for each mode without creating an account. When you find the car, you can copy a spoiler-free summary of your guesses and share it. A live counter shows how many players already found today’s car.

An optional premium plan unlocks the archive of past puzzles, detailed statistics across all modes, and helps pay for the servers. The daily game will always stay free.

Frequently asked questions

When does the car change?

Every day at midnight UTC. All players get the same car on the same day.

Is Cardle free?

Yes. The three daily modes are free to play in your browser, on desktop and mobile, with no download.

Do I need an account?

No. An account is only useful to keep your streak and stats when you switch devices.

Which cars can be the answer?

Any car in the Cardle database. The search bar suggests every available model as you type, so if a car is not suggested, it cannot be the answer.

Why is a property orange?

Some cars were sold with several fuels, body styles or engines. Orange means your guess shares at least one value with the mystery car, but not all of them.

A car or a value looks wrong, what can I do?

Send a message on X or Instagram (links below). Every report is checked and the database is corrected when needed.
